Savage Blonde Technique

Create the perfect "savage" blonde on those darker level clients that thought being a flattering blonde was out of their range.

Creating the canvas: Model's hair was a tinted level 6 red-brown, with a regrowth of a natural level 4N.

Balancing the canvas:

COLOR DESIGN

1. Section hair into 5 sections: 2 sides, 2 back and the top. Starting in the back, utilize the Color Maxing technique taking diagonal slices, and alternate formulas #4, #2 and #3. Keep color 1/2" away from the scalp area to avoid retouch area. Recommended formula sequence: #2, #4, #3, #4 - for progressive depth. Continue throughout the back and sides.(fig. 1)

2. Begin the top section by alternating formulas in the following sequence: #3, #2, #4, #2 - for progressive lightness.

3. Process for 30 minutes. Shampoo with Goldwell Definition Color & Highlights Shampoo. Dry hair completely.

4. Re-section hair into 4 sections and apply formula #1 (retouch). Make sure to take fine partings and fully saturate the hair to ensure maximum lift. (fig. 2)

5. Apply formula #5 (toning) to the ends. Process for 45 minutes. (fig. 3)

6. Upon completion of processing, shampoo and condition with Goldwell Definition Color & Highlights Shampoo and Conditioner.


CUT DESIGN

1. Starting with dry hair, moisten the hair with Goldwell Kerasilk¨ Care & Gloss Shining Conditioner spray. This spray makes a great cutting tool for slide cutting while protecting the hair.

2. Section off the back area from the the occipital bone down. To establish the length, take the entire section and pull to the middle. Slightly twist hair at the ends and cut. (fig. 4)

3. Repeat this process throughout the perimeter of the head. (fig. 5)

4. Take a rectangular section from the crown to the temples, twist and cut using the already established side length as your guide. (fig.6)

5. Finish the fringe area utilizing the twist and cut technique. (fig. 7)

NOTE: Cut was done prior to color.


CONTEMPORARY STYLE

1. Apply a combination of Goldwell Trendline Gel Wax Normal and Goldwell Trendline Volume Mousse Normal. Trendline Volume Mousse Normal helps add volume and lift at the scalp area while Goldwell Trendline Gel Wax Normal helps control the volume on the ends.

2. Begin blow drying the hair with a paddle brush, lifting out from the scalp to create volume, while smoothing the ends.

3. After hair is dry, use a flat iron to smooth and straighten ends. Apply Goldwell Trendline Shine Spray Extreme to each section before using the flat iron for protection and shine. (fig.8)
